Knockconan National School - Information Leaflet

Knockconan National School offers your child a quality education from infants to sixth class as well as preparation for second level school.  All teachers have given quality training time to teaching the new curriculum.   The New Curriculum in Knockconan NS includes Gaeilge, English, maths, history, geography, science, visual arts, drama, music, PE and SPHE(Social Personal & Health Education).

New School

We are into our second year in our beautiful new school.  We have lovely spacious classrooms: all equipped with modern resources and adjoining store rooms and toilets.  The building includes childcare facilities for children 1-4 years, a new IT (Computer) centre for school children and the community, catering and hospitality training and drama facilities around a central hall.  All this has been developed on a four acre site with playing space, football pitch, car parking and landscaping.  The school grounds will be further developed this coming year with outdoor facilities.                                                                                                                        
 
Knockconan N.S are involved in many projects and provide many extra curricular activities, for example:
  • Vital Signs: Dr Gretta Mc Carron the Educational Officer for this project is based at Knockconan NS.  Handheld computers and probes are used to record and teach about the environment and water quality.
  • Language tuition for foreign nationals by Trish Mc Anenly - a visiting teacher.
  • Modern Languages for 5th & 6th classes
  • Tin whistle and swimming
  • Gaelic football and soccer Competitions.
  • Athletic competitions
  • Table quizzes
