During 2011 and 2012 five members from Truagh Development Association Ltd took part in the final year of the Community Leadership Programme. This programme was funded by the International Fund for Ireland (IFI) and was delivered through the Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action (NICVA) The five members that took part were: Ciara King, Bronagh Treanor, Brian Treanor, Brendan Keenan and Darren Feely (pictured right). One member of the group, Ciara King, also had the opportunity of completing a Certificate in Management Practice, accredited by the University of Ulster.
During the year the CLP group attended a series of Action Learning Sessions focusing on themes such as teamwork, good governance, leadership and management, vision and trategy, marketing, monitoring and evaluation and lots more.
The group were provided with a small bursary to organise a project that would benefit the community and so a “Taste of Truagh” was born.
